Graduate Programme

Social Group Programme (9 - 16 years old)

This programme is targeted at special needs children and adolescents that fall in the Moderate functioning category in order to train and equip them with the necessary life skills for the future.

Parents of special needs children who fall in this category often do not have a heading or vision for their children's future and would find themselves asking "What's next?". After all the interventions, therapy sessions, and school, what will be the direction that your child is headed to? Will there be anyone who can care for and support them when their parents are no longer capable? Will the responsibility be put on their siblings or relatives? Or will they be sent to stay in a home?

There are companies, organizations, agencies, and small businesses who do hire people with special needs but would usually take in those who are very high functioning and require minimal supervision. On the other hand, the ones who fall in the low functioning category are usually put into welfare homes or institutions to be taken care of. So what about the ones who fall in between (moderate functioning)?

This is where our social group program comes in and provides a bridge between the gap for special needs children and youth to be able to secure a future through training and skill development.

Some of the goals in this program include:

- Life Skills (basic life skills/ self-help skills, purchasing items, public transportation, etc..)

- Communication (speak in first person, requesting, active two-way communication)

- Social Skills (Accept rejection, able to share, adapting to environment, teamwork)

- Leisure Skills (develop hobby, physical activities, openness to new activities and experiences)

- Job Preparation (independence, responsibility, follow instructions, soft skills / computer skills)

- Planning and Organization (time management, financial planning)

This program follows a hierarchy of skills and abilities which starts with being able to participate in a social group setting and gradually move on to taking on responsibilities. The more capable a child is in functioning independently in society, they can then move on to our "Graduate School" a.k.a Certification Program before moving on to the highest level which is the On-the-Job Training Program a.k.a. Internship and Job Placement.
